Questions

What people ask first

What is dry eye?

Dry eye means your eyes do not make enough tears, or the tears dry too fast or do not spread well. It can feel gritty, burning, tired or watery.

Do I need an exam if I see fine?

Yes. Many eye problems have no early signs, and an exam finds them while they are easy to manage.

How often should I come?

Most adults come once a year. Your doctor may ask you to come sooner, for dry eye or another reason.

Do you work with my vision plan?

We work with many vision plans. Call to confirm yours, and we check your benefits before your visit.

Why was part of my visit billed to medical insurance?

A visit for an eye problem such as dry eye is a medical visit. A routine exam is billed to a vision plan. Many visits include both.

Can I fill my prescription somewhere else?

Yes. Your prescription is yours, and you can fill it anywhere.

Can I have my contact lens prescription?

Yes. You get a copy when the fitting is finished.

What should I bring to my visit?

Your glasses and lenses, a list of your medicines and drops, and your insurance and vision plan cards.

How much will it cost?

It depends on the tests and the care you choose. We give you a written estimate if you pay without insurance, and we explain who pays for what on the fees page.

What should I do in an eye emergency?

Sudden vision loss, flashes of light, a curtain over your vision, a chemical splash or an eye injury needs care now. Call our office right away or go to an emergency room. If you can't reach us, call 911.
